Episode 96 - The Outfit
Monday Apr 25, 2022
Monday Apr 25, 2022
James tries to rearranges his life while Dan has an accident. None of that stops the brave hosts from opinionating on new content. James gushes over Korean drama Pachinko but spy thriller All the Old Knives is just alright. Dan follows the hype of Moon Knight and significantly lowers the tone with Channel 4's Open House: The Great Sex Experiment. Also an offer is a full series review of Apple TV's breakout hit Severance.
Netflix dominates Reel News, which features a riveting live commentary on the streaming giant's tumbling stock price.
The Outfit is the best film of the year that you probably haven't heard of and it's the main review for this episode. A thrilling yarn that seamlessly stitches together multiple narrative threads, with pockets of action and plenty of twists up its sleeve.

Episode 95 - Fresh
Tuesday Apr 12, 2022
Tuesday Apr 12, 2022
For starters, we tuck into what we've been watching. Have you ever wondered what an animated series about bathing innovations would look like? Then wonder no more as James reviews Netflix's Thermae Romae Novae. Elsewhere, HBO's Somebody Somewhere is under the spotlight for some much deserved UK attention. Meanwhile, Dan reflects on Gordon Ramsey's Apprentice wannabe show Future Food Stars which isn’t the best that Britain has to offer but thankfully isn’t the worst unlike Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story (a comment on the man and not the quality of the show itself).
For our Mains, we digest Marvel breaking Guinness World Records, ponder over a film we won’t get to see for another 100 years and rejoice in the announcement of Apple TV's Severance Season 2.
And finally for Desert, the much needed icing on an audio cake…. It's Fresh! Disney+'s latest exclusive film which sees Daisy Edgar-Jones and Sebastian Stan developing a blossoming romance but all may not be as it seems… Trust us and go in blind to this one, you will be rewarded.

Episode 94 - X
Tuesday Apr 05, 2022
Tuesday Apr 05, 2022
The neverending quest for more content leads Dan to Norwegian crime thriller Wisting, and Pieces of Her on Netflix. James reviews Slow Horses and the little known but highly rated Vida.
In Reel News, we discuss that most exciting of topics, box office and reviews for Morbius. And we give our final word on The Slap.
Just before it leaves cinemas, horror film X caught our attention and is this week's main review.
Tuesday Mar 29, 2022
Episode 93 - Ambulance
Tuesday Mar 29, 2022
Tuesday Mar 29, 2022
For our watchlist this week, James finds himself enchanted by Pixar's latest film Turning Red but has mixed feelings on Apple TV's WeCrashed and Jared Leto's unusual appearance. Dan mourns the loss of Jeremy Kyle after watching Channel 4's Death on Daytime documentary and sticking with depressing yet rewarding content he also delivers his thoughts on Mass, which sounds like a future contender for film of the year...
Like much of the film loving world we're still reeling from Will Smith's Oscar's behaviour and the lesser talked about shock of Coda winning best film. For Reel News, we unpack the simultaneously ugly and beautiful turn of events.
For our main review Michael Bay is back in the directors chair to give us another deep character exploration piece about the nature of humanity. Ok so that might be overstating it a bit, but surely his latest film Ambulance has enough explosions and bullets to warrant a trip to the cinema?
Monday Mar 21, 2022
Episode 92 - The Batman
Monday Mar 21, 2022
Monday Mar 21, 2022
After an unplanned two-week hiatus we're back to doing what we like to think we do reasonably well, reviewing the latest but not necessarily greatest content for our dear listeners. James scrapes the barrel of streaming services and delivers some rather lukewarm thoughts on Last One Laughing Canada, then goes more mainstream with a surprising turnaround in quality for Season 2 of Picard. Elsewhere, Dan laps up everything related to toxic relationships with Deep Water and Bad Vegan.
Reel News is a free-flowing discussion of Rebel Wilson's epic Bafta hosting failure, William Hurt's untimely death, and Netflix's recent price hike/lockdown on sharing logins. We didn’t do our research and it shows but we like to think it makes for an interesting conversation.
For our main review, we revisit an old friend in a different form. Matt Reeves is the latest director to tackle the beloved Batman Franchise. Will his interpretation of the world's greatest detective be fresh enough to warrant a brand new trilogy of films or will we be left yearning for Christopher Nolan to come back and save The Batman?

Episode 91 - Kimi
Monday Feb 28, 2022
Monday Feb 28, 2022
As current world events plunge us into further uncertainty you can always rely on In The Aisles for a weekly dose of normalcy. This week it's a mixed bag of strong recommendations amidst heartfelt condemnations. James gives his initial thoughts on Apple TV's Severance, the Kanye West documentary Jeen-Yuhs and The Legend of Vox Machina. Elsewhere Dan regretfully reviews Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Cat Burglar, and the latest film addition to Disney+ No Exit.
Reel News takes a backseat this week as we wade through the debate over which singular streaming service we would choose to take with us on a remote desert island. Don't get it twisted, choice is a good thing, but perhaps there's just too damn much of it and these everyday folks/hosts just want a simpler world with streamlined options.
Finally, Steven Soderbergh's latest offering Kimi takes center stage and opinions look to be divided amongst critics and viewers. Who will we side with? Or will we remain stereotypically British and sit on the fence to avoid any potential fallout?
Monday Feb 21, 2022
Episode 90 - Uncharted
Monday Feb 21, 2022
Monday Feb 21, 2022
With the world on the brink of war, now is the best time to bury our heads in the endless stream of content.
Dan gets hooked by the Tinder Swindler and has a surprising amount to say about free YouTube horror/thriller Shut In. James puts Inventing Anna on trail, and gushes over underappreciated comedty-drama As We See It.
In Reel News, the hosts try to muster enthusiasm for Amazon's Lord of the Rings and the recently announced slate of Paramount+ content, including 14 South Park films.
Entering vey much charted terrority, the Uncharted main review features a bountiful abundance of comparisons to the beloved game series. But can taken as an isolated piece of corporate-produced media, can the Tom Holland adaptation get a recommendation?
Monday Feb 14, 2022
Episode 89 - Moonfall
Monday Feb 14, 2022
Monday Feb 14, 2022
Due to a lack of communication and poor organisation, Dan & James watch the same content and proceed to stumble their way through the watchlist segment. Firstly, we pay a visit to Murderville for a slice of improv murder mystery shenanigans courtesy of Netflix's latest comedy. Then we talk about the BBC's latest Psychological Thriller Chloe starring Ehrin Doherty. Finally, we give an assessment of Amazon's attempt to relegate Tom Cruise into obscurity by reinventing the Jack Reacher legacy with the aptly titled Reacher.
Awards Season is upon us and we use this as a chance to recycle news from the previous week. This time around, it's all about the Oscars. Lady Gaga misses out on a nomination leading James to react using his finest Poker face. Elsewhere, Uncharted reviews are out, will the video game adaption prove to be an epic adventure or a catastrophic failure?
For our main review, we dust off our astronaut gear and venture into outer space to review Ronald Emmerich's latest attempt to obliterate the earth and cinema as we know it, its Moonfall. Is it enjoyable popcorn nonsense or just straight-up nonsense? Pop us in your earholes and we'll let you know.
Monday Feb 07, 2022
Episode 88 - Nightmare Alley
Monday Feb 07, 2022
Monday Feb 07, 2022
It’s a strictly Netflix week for one of us and whilst Jason Bateman continues to launder money for a Mexican drug cartel, Dan continues to watch him do so with Ozark Season 4. The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window is a show that features one of his all-time favourite actresses, but will her presence be enough to save this tonally confused murder mystery parody?
James stays closer to home and weighs in on whether Stephen Graham not being available for the BBC's The Responder is an issue or not. And with Valentine's day fast approaching he decides to take a chance on the greatest love story ever told, Pam & Tommy.
Reel News kicks off with some confusion about Rita Ora's bedroom habits before recentring on relevant content such as the recently announced Bafta nominees, a potential Madame Web Spider-man spin-off movie, and an already greenlit Scream sequel.
Finally, it's time for the main attraction. Guillermo del Toro has had a significant impact on modern film throughout his career but will his latest outing be a cinema experience we can only dream of, or will it be the stuff of Nightmares… We're reviewing Nightmare Alley.
Monday Jan 31, 2022
Episode 87 - Belfast
Monday Jan 31, 2022
Monday Jan 31, 2022
Following the same format as the previous 86, this week opens with a discussion of some new streaming content. Dan takes on Archive 81, and digs into John and the Hole, while James reviews Japanese Netflix offering The Journalist and finds comfort in the familarity of The Apprentice. Then, without a hint of irony, the boys discuss the repetitive nature of Netflix's Harlan Coben adaptations.
In the news section that acts mainly as a buffer between the two content review sections, there is talk of Fight Club's new Chinese ending, the Mission Impossible delay, and the new dramatic take on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
The main review is Kenneth Brannagh's much-praised black and white comedy drama Belfast. Wouldn't it be funny if the hosts had completely contrasting opinions?
Monday Jan 24, 2022
Episode 86 - Scream
Monday Jan 24, 2022
Monday Jan 24, 2022
From outer space to out of place, James gives us a critical rundown of the latest season of the Expanse and delights in Matt Berry's TV return with Toast of Tinseltown. Dan wades through the minefield of gender politics as he gives his heavily edited thoughts on the BBC's Rules of the Game and Netflix's latest crime documentary The Puppet Master: Hunting the Ultimate Conman.
Reel News explores further notions of filming in space, shooting a film over a period of two decades and a proposed Weird Al Yankovic biopic with Daniel Radcliffe in the lead role.
A once-popular Ridley Scott film taught us that "In space, no one can hear you scream". It's just as well then that this week's main review is set entirely on earth….. 1996's Scream sought a reinvention of the genre and partially succeeded. In the dilapidated Hollywood graveyard of original ideas, does Scream 2022 have enough fresh concepts to shake up the genre for a second time?
Monday Jan 17, 2022
Episode 85 - Titane
Monday Jan 17, 2022
Monday Jan 17, 2022
Even as the government and royal family collapses, we continue to distract ourselves with the latest media.
James checks out The Tourist, the tale of Jamie Dornan in an ill-fated trip to Australia, and Hype House, the reality show full of Tik Tok stars that is a sad reminder of the absolute state of society. Dan reviews acclaimed "Grindr Killer" drama Four Lives, and with a mix of admiration and disgust, discusses Inside Dubai: Playground of the Rich.
To pad out the runtime, we reveal our most anticipated films of 2022, and make fun of the Golden Globes debacle.
Finally unleashed on UK screen, Titane is the main review. Listen in awe as your hosts stumble through a discussion about grief, shame, masculinity, and mechanophilia.
Monday Jan 10, 2022
Episode 84 - The Electrical Life of Louis Wain
Monday Jan 10, 2022
Monday Jan 10, 2022
2022 picks up where the previous year left off with copious amounts of streaming content dumped on streaming services ready for us to immediately consume and instantly forget. Like the rest of the UK, Dan greedily binges on Netflix's Stay Close but finds some ingredients hard to digest. Thoroughly unsatisfied, he decides to lighten the mood using the magic of comedy with Jimmy Carr: His Dark Material. James has a Film centric watchlist that consists of Being the Ricardos, an experience that leaves him feeling a bit cold. Trust Stephen Graham to heat things up again as his one-take film Boiling Point results in us both reaching for a tea towel to mop our anxiety-induced sweaty foreheads.
In Reel News, we struggle to bring you cohesive and timely information so instead, we discuss a variety of topics including Ridley Scott's inability to retire, Yellowstone's discreet existence, and the ever-dwindling attention span of today's youth.
For our main review, we draw attention to the film that almost nobody is going out to the cinema to see, The Electrical Life of Louis Wain. After a successful 2021, Benedict Cumberbatch returns on the hunt for another Award. Will this biographical tale finally deliver him Oscar glory? Or will his meteoric star power begin to wain? Yes, it's spelled wrong, it's a reference to... Never mind.
Monday Jan 03, 2022
Episode 83 - The Matrix Resurrections
Monday Jan 03, 2022
Monday Jan 03, 2022
2021 is already becoming a distant memory but content still remains to be reviewed.
Death to 2021 caught both our eyes but is this latest comedy special funny enough to hide that it's just a piece of Netflix propaganda? Dan checks out almost-horror The Kindred, and dives deep into Disney+ for cave rescue documentary The Rescue. James takes a bite of critically acclaimed The Power of the Dog, and takes the nostalgia bait with The Book of Boba Fett.
Nostalgia may not be enough to save the focus of this week's episode, The Matrix Resurrections. The latest instalment of the franchise, that most agree should have ended after the one classic film, provokes much discussion about what could have been and what ideas should have been fully explored.

Episode 82 - Spider-Man: No Way Home
Saturday Dec 25, 2021
Saturday Dec 25, 2021
Seasons greetings from your favourite lockdown therapy podcast! As a little stocking filler to see you through the festive period, we gift you Frank and sense judgment on the latest streaming content, and it arrives 2 days earlier than expected. So shove us in your earholes if you wish to ignore family and friends.
With reviews of Dr. Brain and Wrath of Man James gives us something to chew on but it isn't a human brain... Dan embraces the spirit of Christmas and begrudgingly watches 8-Bit Christmas and The Last Train to Christmas (if you didn't know, it's Christmas).
Meanwhile, deep in the realm of Reel News, we compare our End of Year review choices against those who actually know what they are talking about. Or do they?
Finally, after the unrelenting hype and rumour mill that is Spider-Man: No Way Home, will we finally declare we are done with the MCU? You can find an Instagram post that reveals the answer to this but we deny all knowledge or affiliation to said post, and therefore can't comment. In fact... the image has now been taken down.

Episode 81 - Review of 2021
Monday Dec 20, 2021
Monday Dec 20, 2021
From epic highs to disastrous lows, 2021 AD was a memorable year for consuming media content.
In this special episode, we reveal our favourite TV and film of the year and look back in anger at our biggest disappointments.
With shocking and obscure choices, this may be the most unique best-of-2021 list in the world.
Also featuring a dazzling musical introduction.
Monday Dec 13, 2021
Episode 80 - Tick, Tick... Boom!
Monday Dec 13, 2021
Monday Dec 13, 2021
After being largely ignored by cinema-goers around the globe, James takes a chance on Ridley Scott's The Last Duel with rewarding results. Sticking closer to home, he also praises another criminally under-watched British gem In My Skin. Dan remains predictable and consumes two new Crime dramas; HBO's Landscapers and Netflix's True Story. We also collectively discuss The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring for our "vintage" movie review.
Listeners might find it refreshing that Marvel-related speculation is absent from this week's Reel News segment. Instead, as it 'Tis the season to be jolly' we discuss Santa Inc., HBO's latest animated comedy which has been massively review bombed. We also touch on the cinematic capitalization of the festive period.
Finally, we change the tone as we delve into the critically revered Tick, Tick... Boom! Neither of us can be considered musical aficionados but can we sing from the same hymn sheet, look past our inexperience and appreciate a finely tuned biographical drama?
Monday Dec 06, 2021
Episode 79 - House of Gucci
Monday Dec 06, 2021
Monday Dec 06, 2021
Daniel has a horrible experience at an unnamed local restaurant, but we fare better with our selection of streaming content.
James joins the new Beatlemania with The Beatles: Get Back, while Halle Berry's MMA tale Bruised is not a KO and just OK. Dan finds amusement in both the title and content of UK comedy The Cockfields, and enjoys highly-rated genre mash-up Yellowjackets.
Reel News can't escape the gravitational pull of Spider-man movie gossip, but we do squeeze in comments about the Sex and the City reboot and Jennifer Hudson's definition of success.
House of Gucci was the fashionable choice for this week's main review. With a cast just slightly better than this year's I'm a Celebrity (Get Me Out of Here!), Ridley Scott's latest 158-minute offering cannot possibly disappoint.
Monday Nov 29, 2021
Episode 78 - Ghostbusters: Afterlife
Monday Nov 29, 2021
Monday Nov 29, 2021
Want to find reviews of the latest and greatest content that video on demand has to offer? Who you gonna call? Us of course! This week James finds his time divided between two rival streaming giants as he delves into Netflix's latest Korean show Hellbound and Amazon Prime's eagerly anticipated The Wheel of Time. And no, we haven’t read the books! Meanwhile, Dan shows a lack of dedication by only giving us one solitary review, Irvine Welsh's Crime, available on Britbox.
Reel News once again becomes Marvel News as we give our initial impressions on the latest Spiderman No Way Home trailer, plus we touch on Scarlett Johansson's healed rift with Disney. Elsewhere, Arcane's unexpected worldwide success is also discussed.
This year has been a never-ending onslaught of sequels, reboots, and remakes and this week is no exception. One could be forgiven for thinking Hollywood is running out of ideas but does Ghostbusters: Afterlife prove that sometimes a lack of originality isn’t always a bad thing?

Episode 77 - Red Notice
Monday Nov 22, 2021
Monday Nov 22, 2021
After the culture shock of Marvel's Eternals, your favourite podcast hosts return to the safety of male-led TV dramas. James prescribes himself The Shrink Next Door and Dopesick, and Dan reviews Succession and Dexter: New Blood.
Marvel announced more titles for their endless stream of content, and James tests casual fan Dan's knowledge of the lastest obscure characters that the media will pretend to like. Vin Diesel also comes in for some mockery.
Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot. It was inevitable that Netflix's Red Notice would become the biggest streaming movie of all time (according to Netflix's data that only Netlifx has seen). Red Notice is indeed a crowd-pleasing film, if by "crowd" you mean a global collection of disconnected individuals consuming content alone.
